Our Story

Monitise Americas was formed in 2007 as a joint venture between Monitise plc, the world's most successful mobile banking and payments company, and Metavante Corporation, one of the leading providers of payment technology.

Monitise developed the world's first mobile banking ecosystem, allowing consumers to perform banking and payment transactions using a single consistent interface, regardless of their choice of mobile operator or bank. The service was launched in the US in November 2007 and the company is currently working with international partners to deliver similar safe, secure mobile banking services in territories worldwide.

The service has been live in the UK since 2006, where Monitise delivered the MONILINK ™ network in partnership with VocaLink. With an agreement in place with seven of Britain's largest banks and dedicated secure connections into all major cellular operators, MONILINK is currently available to over one in three of all adult UK banking customers.

Current partners include Metavante, VocaLink, Sun Microsystems, BT Global Services, T-Systems, Sprint, AT&T, Sutton Bank, HSBC, Royal Bank of Scotland Group, Vodafone, O2 and Orange.

Monitise was recognised as a "Technology Pioneer" by the World Economic Forum in 2006, "Mobile Innovation of the Year" by The Banker Magazine in 2007 and awarded the "Innovation in Messaging" award 2007 by the Mobile Messaging Association. Most recently it was awarded "Innovative New Product 2007" at the European Banking Technology Awards.
